Team/Role Overview
Citi is seeking a Quantitative Developer to join the FX options quantitative development team, focussing on building and maintaining the pricing and risk infrastructure for the FX Options trading desk. In this role, you’ll bridge software engineering and quantitative finance, converting complex mathematical models into robust production systems used daily by traders and structurers. This is a chance to directly impact how FX Options are priced, risk-managed, and scaled globally.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain analytics libraries supporting real-time pricing and risk management for FX Options products.
- Design and implement quantitative pricing models using numerical techniques like Monte Carlo methods and partial differential equation solvers.
- Develop production software in C++ and Python, applying object-oriented design principles and performance optimisation techniques, including hardware acceleration.
- Collaborate closely with traders and structurers, translating business requirements into reliable, scalable quantitative systems.
- Integrate models with trading infrastructure in partnership with technology teams.
- Work with risk, compliance, legal, and finance stakeholders to ensure systems meet governance and risk standards.
- Maintain risk awareness in model contributions, aligning outputs with the firm’s risk and conduct policies.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
