FX Plus is a worldwide platform that provides FX rates for international payments. The FX products include live rates, guaranteed rates, and pre-negotiated rates.

Ambitions

FX Plus currently has two major ambitions:

  • Expansion into new BNP Paribas Group territories, domestic banks, and payment processing providers
  • Introducing new product offerings such as exotic currencies and API products

Role: Technical Lead

The FX Plus IT team is recruiting for a highly motivated, hands-on Technical Lead who will be a key player in delivering FX Plus technical change, supporting these ambitions.

Job Purpose

To:

  • Guide the Development Team
  • Work in collaboration with Product and IT teams
  • Capture technical requirements
  • Provide architectural guidance to the Head of FX Plus IT

Key Responsibilities

  • Propose and provide feedback from experience/knowledge on:
    • Architecture, design
    • Technology choices
    • Technology direction of the platform
  • Work closely with developers to determine and follow best development/architecture practices
  • Participate in an agile-based software development lifecycle:
    • Technical analysis
    • Documentation
    • Development
    • Testing
    • Code reviews
  • Collaborate with the production support team for release and maintenance of components
  • Coach less experienced participants through:
    • Instruction
    • Pair programming
    • Code reviews
  • Fully participate in meetings for:
    • New functionality (requirement, design, estimation, planning)
  • Provide 3rd line application support on a rota basis

Requirements

Essential

  • Extensive experience in software development in a highly regulated enterprise environment
  • Experience in:
    • Designing distributed systems at scale (with respect to consistency and availability)
    • Testing systems for load and performance requirements
  • Excellent knowledge of:
    • Programming best practices and design patterns
    • Java, Spring, Hibernate, Open API, Log4J
  • Good skills/experience with:
    • Angular, JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Oracle relational databases
    • SQL knowledge
    • Enterprise Messaging Patterns (REST & MQ styles)
  • Understanding of:
    • Test-driven development
    • Continuous integration practices
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (both verbal and written)
  • Strong understanding of:
    • The FX cash business
    • Associated products (Spot, Fwd, NDFs)
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tool suite:
    • JIRA, Confluence, etc.
  • Familiarity with:
    • Jenkins, TeamCity, Ansible, Nexus, Artifactory (DevOps ecosystem)
  • Experience working with:
    • In-house development teams across regions
    • Agile teams

Preferred

  • Strong interest in application modernization and continuous improvement
  • Prior exposure to systems in the FX part of the payments chain
  • Experience in:
    • Architecture governance (enterprise environment)
    • Containers, Kubernetes, Helm
    • Apache Kafka
  • Certified ScrumMaster
