About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Analyst to join our team working on Old School RuneScape. In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of analysts responsible for transforming complex data into actionable insights that influence game development, player engagement strategies, and business growth. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Design, Engineering, and senior leadership to shape the game’s roadmap and enhance the overall player experience. This position offers a flexible working environment based in Cambridge, UK, with options for remote work, though applicants should be within a reasonable commuting distance to attend onsite meetings as needed.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in data analysis, leadership qualities, and a deep understanding of MMORPG player behaviors. Your insights will directly impact decision-making processes, helping to optimize game mechanics, retention, and engagement. This role provides an exciting opportunity to influence one of gaming’s most successful live service titles and contribute to the future growth of RuneScape.

Qualifications
- Proven experience leading or mentoring analysts in an analytics, business intelligence, or data-focused environment
- Strong proficiency in SQL and experience working with large datasets and data cleansing techniques
- Understanding of video game player behaviors, especially within MMORPGs
- Familiarity with modern data platforms such as AWS, Snowflake, and OLAP technologies
- Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate complex findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across multiple disciplines
- Leadership experience in developing and nurturing analytical teams
- Deep knowledge of game mechanics, systems, and player interaction within MMORPGs is preferred
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Product Analysts, fostering a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and analytical excellence
- Build strong relationships with various teams within Old School RuneScape to understand product strategies, player needs, and business priorities
- Deliver insights and business intelligence that directly influence product development, feature planning, and strategic roadmaps
- Transform complex datasets into clear, actionable recommendations to support decision-making across Product, Design, and Leadership teams
- Query, analyze, and interpret large datasets to identify opportunities for improving player engagement, retention, and overall game experience
- Partner with Engineering and Design teams to enhance telemetry and data collection methods
- Collaborate with central Data teams to define data requirements and contribute to shared data products’ evolution
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of Old School RuneScape’s gameplay mechanics and player behaviors to contextualize analysis
- Promote a data-driven culture across the game development teams and advocate best practices in analytics and reporting
