About The Role
Sega is seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Game Designer to join its London studio, working specifically on the acclaimed Football Manager franchise. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the core gameplay experience of a beloved series, taking ownership of key features and ensuring they meet high standards of quality and engagement. The Senior Game Designer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including art, programming, and production to deliver innovative and polished gaming experiences. Additionally, this position involves mentoring junior designers, fostering a collaborative and creative environment. The role supports a hybrid working model, requiring 2-3 days in the studio each week, allowing for a flexible yet connected work experience.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in game design, with a proven track record of delivering successful projects from concept through to launch. A deep understanding of gameplay mechanics, user experience, and game balancing is essential. Experience working on sports or simulation games, particularly football-related titles, is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, creativity, and the ability to work effectively within a team. A genuine passion for football and gaming is a must, along with familiarity with modern game development tools and methodologies. A bachelor’s degree in game design, computer science, or a related field is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Designing, developing, and refining gameplay features within the Football Manager franchise
- Conceptualizing new features, iterating on existing mechanics, and ensuring seamless integration with other game systems
- Collaborating with art, programming, and production teams to deliver high-quality content
- Creating detailed design documents, prototypes, and playtests to validate ideas
- Mentoring junior team members and providing constructive feedback
- Monitoring project timelines, contributing to sprint planning, and ensuring that deliverables meet both quality standards and deadlines
