Key Responsibilities
Game Mathematics & Product Design
- Own the mathematical design and validation of new and existing games across live casino, table games, game shows, slots, and gamification products.
- Design and document RTP, volatility, hit frequency, payout distributions, pay tables, bet limits, jackpot mechanics, bonus mechanics, and other core mathematical parameters.
- Develop mathematical models for game mechanics, payout structures, side bets, bonus rounds, promotional mechanics, and proprietary game variants.
- Conduct feasibility analysis for new game concepts, identifying mathematical risks, commercial trade-offs, and regulatory considerations before development begins.
- Partner with Product Owners, Game Designers, Commercial, and Engineering teams to shape game mechanics that balance player experience, operator value, compliance, and business goals.
- Review competitor products and market trends from a mathematical and product-performance perspective to support roadmap decisions.
- Provide mathematical sign-off for game specifications and releases, ensuring implemented logic matches approved models and documentation.
Simulation, Modelling & Quantitative Analysis
- Design, build, and maintain simulation models to validate game mathematics, estimate statistical properties, and test edge cases.
- Run large-scale Monte Carlo simulations and theoretical analyses to validate RTP, variance, volatility, confidence intervals, risk exposure, and payout behaviour.
- Develop efficient simulation tooling using vectorised computation, parallel processing, memorisation, and other optimisation techniques where appropriate.
- Produce analytical and numerical solutions for expected value, variance, conditional probabilities, distributional outcomes, and other key game metrics.
- Support real-time or near-real-time expected-value calculations for live game features, side bets, bonus mechanics, and monitoring tools.
- Create clear mathematical documentation, models, and reports that can be reviewed by internal stakeholders, auditors, testing labs, and regulators.
Regulatory Compliance & Mathematical Documentation
- Prepare and maintain mathematical documentation required for internal approval, certification, testing labs, and regulatory submissions.
- Produce theoretical RTP calculations, simulation reports, game logic explanations, pay-table analyses, and statistical validation reports.
- Work closely with the Compliance Lead, who manages regulator-facing communication and formal submission processes.
- Ensure all game mathematics aligns with applicable regulatory, certification, and testing-lab requirements across relevant jurisdictions.
- Support audits, certification reviews, and regulatory queries by providing clear mathematical evidence and explanations.
- Advise on mathematical and statistical requirements for adjacent systems, including RNG, RGS, game servers, statistical monitoring tools, and reporting systems where required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the mathematical authority within the organisation, advising Product, Engineering, Compliance, Commercial, Operations, and senior stakeholders.
- Communicate complex mathematical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Challenge assumptions and identify risks in game designs, promotional mechanics, simulations, or implementation logic.
- Partner with Engineering to ensure mathematical models are implemented accurately and efficiently in production systems.
- Support Product and Commercial teams with data-driven insights into game performance, player behaviour, volatility, profitability, and product positioning.
- Identify opportunities to improve mathematical processes, documentation standards, simulation tooling, validation methods, and release governance.
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications & Experience

- Proven experience, 2 years, as a game mathematician within iGaming, online casino, live casino, slots, table games, lottery, or a closely related gaming environment.
- Strong understanding of RTP, volatility, variance, hit frequency, pay-table construction, jackpot design, bonus mechanics, and payout modelling.
- Advanced knowledge of probability theory, combinatorics, statistics, stochastic processes, optimisation, and simulation methods.
- Ability to build, validate, and document mathematical models from concept through certification and production release.
