About the Role
Amazon’s Game Theory Team is at the forefront of innovation, driving strategic negotiation excellence and procurement transformation across billions of dollars of spend. We are seeking a Game Theory Expert to join our dynamic team and make a significant impact on procurement outcomes.
In this role, you will use Game Theory principles to:
- Design and execute strategic tendering processes
- Develop innovative negotiation strategies
- Provide high-value consulting to a diverse set of categories, including logistics, energy, robotics, equipment, construction, labor, transportation, packaging, and technology
You will be instrumental in delivering measurable cost savings, fostering supplier competition, and enhancing procurement strategies through state-of-the-art methodologies. - Design and implement negotiation strategies using Game Theory and economic principles to maximize savings and drive optimal procurement outcomes.
- Lead high-stakes procurement tenders using Game Theory methodologies, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Communicate sophisticated Game Theory concepts succinctly to non-technical audiences.
- Build quantitative models to evaluate:
- Supplier proposals
- Total cost of ownership
- Compare award scenarios
- Provide real-time sparring and wargaming for procurement teams during critical negotiation phases.
- Deliver tailored training sessions to equip procurement teams with Game Theory tools and techniques.
- Develop and refine negotiation frameworks, tools, and resources to enable scalable adoption of Game Theory across Amazon.
- Continuously explore advanced models and concepts to address evolving procurement challenges.
About The Team
The Game Theory team operates as an internal consultancy within Amazon’s GPO, partnering with procurement teams across diverseCategories to transform procurement and negotiation outcomes.
Comprising passionate Game Theory experts who thrive on analytical challenges, they aim to push procurement methodologies to their limits. Together, they focus on delivering:
- Cost savings
- Process innovation
- Long-term value for Amazon
Basic Qualifications
- Experience in stakeholder and communication management
- Proficiency in advanced data analysis using Excel, Python, or SQL
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, mathematics, statistics, or a related quantitative discipline
- Knowledge of Game Theory
- Track record of delivering measurable financial impact through analytical or strategic initiatives

Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Economics, Game Theory, Auction Theory, Industrial Organization, Market Design, or related field
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills with the ability to:
- Structure complex problems efficiently
- Manage multiple demanding projects simultaneously
- Ability to solve ambiguous business challenges in high-pressure environments
- Cooperative, open-minded, and learning-driven mindset
Location
This role can be based in London, Barcelona, or Luxembourg.
