Segritude Games was established in May 2023. We are a passionate start-up game development company committed to creating unique, immersive gaming experiences. Our growing team brings together various skills and expertise, working collectively to develop a game that stands out in the industry.

As a start-up, we offer a flexible contract agreement requiring a minimum of 15 hours per week. You will be using our Clock-in portal on Discord to record your hours. We are actively pursuing investment and funding opportunities to support and pay our team based on revenue from sales or secured funding. This is a great opportunity to be part of a promising start-up.

ROLE OVERVIEW

As a Gameplay Programmer (Multiplayer) at Segritude, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining multiplayer gameplay systems for our upcoming Unreal Engine 5 projects. You will work closely with our design, art, and engineering teams to ensure the seamless integration of multiplayer features, creating a captivating and engaging experience for players worldwide.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, design, and implement innovative gameplay mechanics, systems, and features that enhance player engagement and immersion.
  • Design and balance the progression systems, including character development, resource gathering, crafting, and building mechanics, ensuring a satisfying and rewarding player experience.
  • Create and maintain detailed design documents, including gameplay mechanics, systems, level designs, and user interactions, to guide the development team throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and stay up-to-date with industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation within the open world survival genre.
  • Work closely with the art to ensure that gameplay features are effectively communicated through visual cues enhancing player understanding and enjoyment.
  • Participate in playtesting sessions and provide constructive feedback to the development team to identify and address gameplay issues, bugs, and balancing concerns.
  • Contribute to design discussions, brainstorming sessions, and team meetings, fostering a collaborative and creative environment that drives the overall vision of the game.
  • Stay current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and advancements in game design to bring fresh and innovative ideas to the project.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in game design, Interactive Media, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as a Game Designer, preferably with experience in survival games.
  • Strong creative and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to solve complex design challenges.
  • Proficiency with game design tools and software, such as Unreal Engine.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Passion for video games, particularly within the open world survival genre.
  • Strong knowledge of game design principles, mechanics.
  • Experience with scripting and gameplay implementation is a plus.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Proven track record of designing survival games or similar online multiplayer experiences.
    • Previous involvement in designing and optimizing multiplayer gameplay mechanics, including player-versus-player (PvP) and player-versus-environment (PvE) interactions.
    • Portfolio showcasing personal game design projects, mods, or prototypes that highlight your creative and technical skills in the survival genre.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present and articulate design concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical team members.
