Ganger Groundworker
Lead Hand / Ganger – Groundworks – **Driffield (Wider Region)
Join JN Bentley Ltd, a well-established and growing business part of Mott MacDonald Bentley, as an enthusiastic and motivated Lead Hand / Ganger to lead a groundworks gang based in Driffield, working across the wider region. We’re seeking someone with a ready-made gang to ensure a smooth transition—preference is given to applicants with such a team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional with a strong background in civils and groundworks, with an emphasis on:
- Proactive mindsets regarding work, Health & Safety, and productivity.
- Hands-on experience in the water industry, general civil work, concreting, deep drainage, and pipe laying.
The Role
Reporting to Site Management, you will:
- Lead and supervise a groundworks gang across construction sites, focusing primarily on water industry projects.
- Maintain and enforce high productivity, quality, and Health & Safety (H&S) standards.
- Foster a proactive risk-reporting culture to ensure continual improvement.
- Collaborate closely with Site Management to deliver measurable project outcomes.
Candidate Specification
Must-Have Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience managing a gang in civils projects, particularly in deep drainage, pipe-laying, and concreting.
- Ready-made gang (preferably including Skilled and General Operatives) for seamless integration.
- Strong commitment to Health & Safety, including experience in a rigorous reporting culture.
- Valid CSCS, CPCS, NOCN, or NPORS card, with supporting:
- Relevant NVQ
- Plant Tickets (e.g., excavators, dumper trucks, mini-diggers).
- Completion of Site Supervisor or Site Management training.
- Full UK driving licence.
