The Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate gardener, with good horticultural knowledge of garden plants and sustainable practices. The successful applicant will be given their own area of responsibility to maintain and develop, working under the Head Gardener and Senior Gardener.
The successful applicant will be expected to work on their own or with the team on a variety of garden projects, using their initiative to maintain the garden to a high standard, enhancing the planting schemes by utilising horticultural skills for the benefit of the gardens and wider grounds.
They will be required to safely use and operate a range of garden tools and machinery within a busy garden, as well as being able to demonstrate good time management skills in which they can balance the demands of the areas alongside seasonal team tasks.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
