Description

Who We Are

Petroineos Trading Limited (PITL) is a joint venture between PetroChina International London (PCIL), the international trading arm of PetroChina, and INEOS, one of the world's leading petrochemical, chemical, and energy companies. Established in 2011, Petroineos combines the global trading and supply capabilities of PetroChina with the refining, manufacturing, and energy expertise of INEOS, creating an integrated energy trading and refining business with a significant presence across European and international markets.

PetroChina International forms part of PetroChina Company Limited, the publicly listed arm of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), one of the world's largest integrated energy companies. Through its global network, PetroChina International operates across major trading hubs including London, Singapore, and Houston, supporting international trading, logistics, storage, and energy supply operations.

By leveraging the strategic strengths of both shareholders, Petroineos has built a strong position across refining, energy trading, logistics, and market access. Today, the wider group participates in global crude oil, refined products, natural gas, LNG, power, and environmental markets, supported by extensive infrastructure, commercial partnerships, and trading capabilities.

Who You Are / Your Next Challenge

As part of our continued investment in data, analytics, and artificial intelligence capabilities, Petroineos Trading Limited (PITL) is expanding its European Gas and LNG analytics function. We are seeking a curious, commercially aware, and technically capable Gas and LNG Data Analyst to join our growing AI Foundry (AIF) team on a full-time / 12 months fixed-term contract basis.

This role is ideal for an individual with prior experience in data analytics, data engineering, or quantitative analysis who enjoys transforming complex datasets into meaningful market intelligence. Whether your experience has been gained within energy, commodities, financial services, technology, or another data-driven environment, this position offers an exciting opportunity to apply modern data and AI technologies to support front-office trading activities.

Based in our London office and reporting to the Head of Data Analysis, you will work closely with Data Scientists, Traders, and Commercial teams to develop the data and analytical models that underpin our understanding of the European Gas and LNG markets. You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of data sources, including supply and demand fundamentals, storage inventories, pipeline flows, LNG vessel movements, and market intelligence datasets.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
