Gas Designer

About the Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Gas Designer to play a key role in delivering high-quality design solutions across a range of utility infrastructure projects. You will be involved throughout the full design lifecycle, from initial site surveys through to producing detailed technical drawings, while developing your expertise alongside experienced engineers and project teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with gas design experience looking to work on complex, high-profile projects in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor industry best practices, recommend new design approaches, and identify emerging trends
  • Develop high-quality design concepts, collaborating with internal stakeholders and incorporating feedback
  • Support all design phases, including project setup, programming, detailed design, and CDM documentation
  • Request and review statutory plans (STAT plans)
  • Provide technical support to the wider design team
  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and external consultants to deliver projects
  • Liaise with clients, third parties, and subcontractors to resolve design issues
  • Produce weekly design reports and present updates to senior stakeholders
  • Conduct site visits and surveys to inform designs and produce as-laid drawings
  • Attend and lead pre-design and walk-off meetings with clients
  • Ensure full compliance with CDM 2015 regulations
  • Maintain and update Health & Safety files throughout the project lifecycle
  • Create detailed technical drawings, plans, and general arrangements
  • Work closely with project stakeholders to ensure designs are delivered on time and within budget
  • Provide support to site teams with design-related queries during construction
  • Manage designs through relevant governance and approval processes
  • Travel to sites across the UK as required for surveys, reviews, and project meetings

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
