Gas Engineer (Trainee) Assistant
Locations: Edinburgh | Falkirk | Stirling | East Lothian | Mid Lothian | West Lothian
Salary: £28,200 per annum (increasing to £31,300 on successful completion of probation) Start Date: September 2026

About the Role
Ready to keep people safe and warm?
SGN is seeking exceptional Trainee Gas Engineers—no prior experience required. Instead of focusing on your CV, we’re interested in your values, skills, and potential to strengthen our team while promoting diversity and inclusion.
You’ll receive full training and equipment to assist engineers with:
- Repairing, replacing, and laying gas mains and services
Key Responsibilities
- Support engineers on-site, learning daily through gas service and mains repair activities
- Understand which essential works are required to keep gas supply running secure across millions households every day—included operations at all hours
- Work safely in outdoor environments (excavation in public/private highways) and in changing weather conditions, always as part of a team
- Ensure all vehicles and tools are maintained efficiently pre/post-jobs for safe and smooth operations
- Complete t weder overtime and standby duties if available post-qualification

- Must remain clean-shaven
- Must pass a breathing apparatus face fit test
