Gas Inspector (Leeds, South Cumbria and surrounding areas)
As a Gas Inspector, you'll be responsible for inspecting, reporting, and feeding back on the gas safety standards of registered businesses across Leeds, South Cumbria, and surrounding areas.
About the Role
You'll be allocated a portfolio of registered businesses and provided with a structured process to ensure inspections and reports are completed in line with service level agreements.
Responsibilities
Key Duties:
- Conduct inspections in accordance with the Risk Model and contractual obligations with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE)
- Perform inspections to comply with Gas Industry Statutory and Normative Documents, as well as internal operating procedures
- Liaise with registered businesses to ensure:
- Identified defects are understood
- Corrections are completed to standard
- Work is completed within the specified timescales
- Complete inspection reports within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and to the required standard
- Take appropriate action when uncovering unsafe or illegal gas work
- Engage with registered businesses and gas consumers while maintaining effective communication
Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Must hold minimum ACS CPCS certificates (as below):
- CCN1 (Pipework System Installation and Repair)
- CENWAT1 (Natural Gas Domestic Appliance Installation and Repair)
- CKR1 (Natural Gas Domestic Combustion Appliance Servicing and Safety)
- HTR1 (Gas Fitting for Boilers and Central Heating Systems Installation and Repair)
- Preferences will be given to candidates with additional ACS certificates:
- LPG
- Non-Domestic and Catering
- LAU1 (Grease Trap Installation)
- DAH1 (Domestic Appliance Installing – Water Heaters – Natural Gas)
- Demonstrated experience working on a variety of gas appliances or quality-controlling gas work
- Strong understanding of:
- Health & Safety
- Building Regulations
- Related codes and normative documents (including risk assessments)
- Completion or prior work would be helpful with the D32/A1 qualification (Audit Framework) or equivalent
- Commitment to maintaining technical knowledge through Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- Effective risk assessment skills applicable to industry environments
- Sound knowledge and empathy for issues affecting gas, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC installation businesses
- Capable of operating tools to test, check, and inspect gas installations and equipment
