Argus Analytics forms one half of the advisory division of Argus Media Group. Comprising a global team of 90 analysts, we provide clients with analysis, data and forecasts across 35 commodities and markets spanning oil & gas, petrochemicals, fertilizers, metals, power markets and energy transition solutions. Role Overview
Our natural gas expertise is a foundational component of our rapidly growing Analytics business. As we enter an exciting expansion phase, we are now looking for an experienced, passionate and innovative Senior Analyst, Natural Gas. At its core this role will contribute to the delivery, improvement and expansion of our existing gas service; provide inspiring thought leadership to the market; build enduring relationships with the industry and position Argus as the first voice clients turn to when they want help to understand the European gas market.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in gas market analysis and forecasting to play a prominent role in the development of the next generation of Argus’s Analytics services and to position themselves as a market expert in an area that is vital to the development of our business.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of specific market segments (e.g. Germany, UK, or Iberia), contributing to Argus’s continuously evolving analysis of the gas industry, including the identification and quantification of key market risks (policy, fuel pricing, capacity shifts);
- Develop and continuously improve Argus’s fundamental gas market models. Translate modelling outputs into clear market views and price forecasts;
- Design, deliver and improve client-facing deliverables (reports, consulting, presentations) and underpinning data models;
- Build strong understanding of, and interlinkage with, other associated Argus Services’ data and capabilities to ensure market views remain consistent across our offerings;
- Represent Argus Analytics as a gas subject matter expert at appropriate international events and through client engagements;
- Support Argus’s commercial organisation to identify and secure prospects through high impact demos;

Skills And Experience Sought
- ~5 years of gas industry experience, most likely gained in either a similar market intelligence or consulting role or within industry;
- Educated to degree level (2.1 or above) from a leading university;
- Strong understanding of gas and power markets, how they operate and key market trends. Experience of using third party Energy Modelling Software beneficial;
- Highly numerate with experience analysing comprehensive datasets quickly and meticulously with excellent attention to detail and accuracy focus;
- Intellectually curious and able to demonstrate structured problem solving and analytical skills;
- Exceptional communication and relationship building skills;
- Strong IT skills including advanced Excel and PowerPoint. Awareness of other statistical and programming languages such as R is an advantage.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks to deadline and to meet targets.
- Flexible in approach, highly motivated and willing to contribute to the growth of Argus’ Consulting Services.
