Join HomeServe as a Gas Repair Engineer

Play a vital role in keeping our customers’ homes running smoothly.

Location: Northampton Salary: £52,830 + £3,000 guaranteed bonus in your first year Hours: Average 40 hours per week (annualised) — variable to meet demand, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays (consistent pay throughout).


About the Role

As a Gas Repair Engineer, you’ll diagnose and repair gas appliances and heating systems directly in customers’ homes. This field-based role offers variety, autonomy, and the chance to deliver essential home comfort solutions.


Your Responsibilities

Your day-to-day work will include:

  • Diagnosing faults on boilers and central heating systems
  • Carrying out repairs to restore heating and hot water
  • Conducting boiler servicing
  • Completing safety checks and ensuring compliance with gas regulations
  • Managing jobs independently while delivering exceptional customer service
  • Representing HomeServe professionally in customers’ homes

Requirements

To join our team, we’re looking for candidates with:

  • Valid gas qualifications: CCN1, CENWAT1, HTR1, & CKR1
  • Experience repairing gas appliances and central heating systems
  • Full UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points)
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot issues on-site
  • A proactive, positive attitude

Training and Support

We’ll equip you from day one: ✔ Week 1: Classroom-based induction (Monday–Friday at our Walsall Head Office) ✔ Week 2: On-the-job training alongside a HomeServe Gas Repair Engineer

(Note: Where required, HomeServe covers accommodation costs and meal allowance during induction.)
