Annual Hours & Working Pattern

  • Average of 40 hours per week (annualised – seasonal adjustments)

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Gas Repair Engineer, you will work directly in customers’ homes diagnosing and repairing gas appliances and heating systems.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing faults on boilers & central heating systems
  • Carrying out repairs to restore heating and hot water
  • Performing boiler services
  • Completing safety checks and ensuring compliance with regulations
  • Managing jobs independently while delivering excellent customer service
  • Representing HomeServe professionally in customers’ homes

This field-based role offers variety and autonomy, ensuring no two days are the same.


What We’re Looking For

To succeed as a Gas Repair Engineer with HomeServe, you must have:

  • Valid gas qualifications: CCN1, CENWAT1, HTR1 & CKR1
  • Experience repairing gas appliances & central heating systems
  • A full UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points)
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and solve problems on-site
  • Positive, proactive approach to your work

Training & Support

We provide all necessary support to ensure you succeed:

  • Week 1: Classroom-based induction (Monday to Friday at our Walsall Head Office)
  • Week 2: On-the-job training alongside an experienced HomeServe Gas Repair Engineer

(Where required, we cover accommodation and meal allowances for your induction.)
