Who We Are

VIVO provides facilities management and accommodation maintenance for the UK military and its partners. VIVO embodies both experience and innovation.

What We Do

We put our Customers and Families First. They are the driving force behind everything we do. We drive forward improvements for them to ensure the service they receive, whether reactive repairs or a major project, is completed safely and on time. In order to achieve this, we have 4 core values: open, caring, agile and collaborative. These are at the heart of everything we do.

Location: Upavon, to cover the Wiltshire area

Permanent, Full time

Salary: £51,308.48 (when fully trained and appointed)

At VIVO, we deliver facilities management and infrastructure services across the Defence estate, helping to maintain the places where our Armed Forces live, work and train. We're looking for an experienced Gas Responsible Person to join our Compliance team, providing expert technical leadership and ensuring the safe operation of gas systems across a diverse and nationally significant portfolio.

This is an opportunity to become the recognised technical authority for gas compliance within your area, ensuring natural gas, LPG and associated systems are managed safely and in full compliance with statutory legislation, Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) requirements and VIVO policies. Your expertise will directly contribute to protecting people, maintaining operational capability and ensuring the Defence estate remains safe and compliant.

  • You'll oversee gas compliance activities across the estate, ensuring statutory inspections, servicing and preventative maintenance programmes are delivered effectively while monitoring performance against key compliance requirements.
  • Through regular audits and assurance reviews, you'll identify areas for improvement, ensure corrective actions are completed and maintain the highest standards of technical governance.
  • Working closely with operational teams, contractors and project managers, you'll provide specialist advice on gas infrastructure, reviewing technical procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work while supporting the design, installation and commissioning of new and existing gas systems.
  • You'll also investigate incidents, identify root causes and recommend practical improvements that strengthen safety and compliance across the business.
  • A key part of the role will involve identifying and managing gas-related risks, maintaining compliance records and supporting emergency responses where required.
  • You'll monitor high-risk assets, ensure appropriate control measures are in place and provide technical guidance during planned works and operational incidents.
  • You'll work collaboratively with contractors and supply chain partners, verifying competence, monitoring performance and ensuring all gas-related works are delivered by appropriately qualified personnel.
  • You'll also maintain accurate compliance records, produce assurance reports and present technical findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • As a trusted technical expert, you'll coach and support operational teams, helping to develop gas safety awareness and promote a culture where safety, compliance and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything we do.
  • The role offers a mixture of home working, site visits and regular travel across the Defence estate, including occasional out-of-hours support for critical compliance issues and participation in a one-in-four on-call rota.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
