Gas Support Officer Responsibilities, Requirements & Benefits
About the Role
The Gas Support Officer will provide critical technical information and gas safety advice to stakeholders and the general public to sustain and improve safety standards within the gas industry.
This role ensures Gas Safe Register’s policies are promoted across the trade and public sectors.
Job Description
Responsibilities include:
- Handling telephone, written, and email enquiries about gas-related building work and the Nationally Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS).
- Providing high-quality written and oral responses to boost gas safety awareness and ensure compliance with legislation.
- Ensuring technical and industry accuracy by advising internal departments.
- Producing technical articles, bulletins, and publications with clarity and authority.
- Offering cover for Technical Officers as required to meet service standards.
- Reviewing and disseminating technical information in light of regulatory and industry changes.
Requirements
Essential:
- 8+ years’ experience in the gas industry.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Minimum City & Guilds/NVQ qualification in gas engineering.
- ACS Certification with valid proof of competence.
- In-depth knowledge of gas industry regulations, health & safety, Building Regulations, and other pertinent laws.
- Strong customer service skills with a persuasive communication style.
Preferred:
- Ability to analyze data and research findings for informed decision-making.
- Skills in prioritization, coordination, and time management amid pressure.
- Familiarity with digital systems.
