Ready to turn operating model insight into enterprise-wide simplification outcomes?

Why HSBC

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world. Guided by our purpose of opening up a world of opportunity, our ambition is to become the world’s most trusted bank globally, putting customers at the heart of everything we do.

The Role

Group Chief Operating Office (GCOO) is the execution engine of the Group - enabling business strategy through transformation while optimising operational efficiency. As GCOO Operating Model Change Director, you’ll work with the Global Head of GCOO Operating Model Change and the GCOO leadership team to define and deliver material operating model change aligned to the Group’s strategic objectives. You’ll be working across value streams and enablers, driving global common solutions required across all businesses. The role sits in Change Execution and operates in a complex regulated environment with senior stakeholders across the Group.

Success means clear operating model choices backed by rigorous analysis, strong governance, and measurable outcomes through benefits realisation and OKR tracking. You’ll also create the conditions for high-quality delivery across internal teams and strategic partners.

What you'll be doing

  • Shape and deliver large-scale operating model change programmes from design to delivery
  • Own enterprise-wide delivery programmes such as Simplification front-to-back from initiation to benefits realisation
  • Create business cases and initiative justifications including outcomes, costs and measures of success
  • Define delivery approaches and plans including solution design and operating model impacts and defining expected outcomes and benefits for the bank
  • Oversee programme management, business analysis, adoption planning and implementation across complex initiatives
  • Partner with senior executive leaders to identify opportunities, set priorities and accelerate decision making and execution
  • Track OKRs using data and insights to evidence tangible simplification and outcomes realised

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Turning Insight into Execution

This role connects operating model analysis to decisions that change how the Group runs. You’ll work closely with senior leaders to convert complex data into clear choices, practical plans and outcomes that can be tracked. The portfolio spans enterprise simplification and operational efficiency where tangible benefits and capacity release matter. If you’ve shaped operating model change at scale and can present recommendations credibly at the most senior levels, this is the opportunity to have that work land across the Group.
