GCSE Maths Tutor
An exciting opportunity for a qualified GCSE Maths Tutor to deliver engaging AQA GCSE Mathematics lessons to 14-19 learners resitting their exams. Ideal for experienced Mathematics Tutors, Further Education Tutors and GCSE Maths Teachers seeking flexible teaching opportunities within adult and community education.

£15.40 to £16.43 per Hour (Grade 8) + Benefits

Job Overview
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a GCSE Maths Tutor to join a supportive education service delivering high-quality AQA GCSE Mathematics Foundation Tier courses to learners aged 14-19 resitting their qualifications.
As a GCSE Maths Tutor you will use effective lesson planning, classroom management and assessment techniques to deliver engaging teaching and learning experiences. You will utilise blended learning approaches, promote learner engagement and support student progress through inclusive teaching methods.
The GCSE Maths Tutor will prepare learners for examinations while embedding safeguarding, British Values and equality, diversity and inclusion into everyday practice. This flexible role offers opportunities to work occasional hours or build a regular teaching timetable to suit your availability.
Duties
Your duties as the GCSE Maths Tutor include:
- Planning Lessons: Develop lesson plans, schemes of work and teaching resources aligned to the AQA GCSE Mathematics Foundation curriculum
- Delivering High-Quality Teaching: Facilitate engaging classroom sessions using effective teaching and learning strategies
- Assessing Learner Progress: Conduct formative and summative assessment to monitor student progress and achievement
- Marking Student Work: Provide constructive feedback that supports learner development and examination success
- Supporting GCSE Resit Learners: Motivate and encourage learners retaking GCSE Mathematics to achieve their potential
- Implementing Blended Learning: Utilise digital tools and online resources to enhance learner engagement and participation
- Promoting Inclusive Practice: Adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs and support positive outcomes
- Maintaining Safeguarding Standards: Apply safeguarding procedures and safe learner practices at all times
- Managing Learning Records: Maintain accurate registers, assessment records and associated documentation
- Supporting Learner Development: Encourage the development of personal, social and employability skills
- Participating in Professional Development: Engage in CPD activities and keep up to date with curriculum and examination requirements

Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Hold a recognised teaching qualification, including a Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET) or equivalent for maths delivery
- Hold a mathematics qualification at least one level higher than the level being taught
- Previous experience in planning, delivering and assessing learning programmes for post-14 learners or adults
- Experience delivering GCSE Mathematics and supporting learners resitting examinations
- Proven experience of using educational assessment methods to monitor and improve student progress
- Ability to create engaging learning environments that maintain learner motivation and participation
- Experience using digital technologies and online teaching resources to support learning
- Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and safe learner practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with learners, colleagues and stakeholders
- Dedicated to promoting equality, diversity, inclusion and British Values

Desirable
- Experience within adult and community education or further education environments
- Understanding of learner support needs and strategies to improve retention and achievement
- Membership of The Society for Education and Training (SET)
- Experience teaching Functional Skills Mathematics programmes
