Join the Dolly's Desserts Team

Due to upscaling and increased demand, we’re looking for a Gelato Chef to join the Dolly’s Desserts team.

About Dolly's Desserts

Dolly's Desserts is a family-run, fast-growing business based in the heart of Barnsley Town Centre. With a strong social media following and a nationwide reputation, we're renowned for our handcrafted desserts and authentic Italian-style gelato. Customers travel from across the UK to visit us, so maintaining exceptional quality & standards is at the core of everything we do.

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Gelato Chef to join our growing business and aid production in one of the most important areas of our operation, our gelato production kitchen.

This is a very hands-on, creative role. As our Gelato Chef, you'll be responsible for producing the best quality gelato for:

  • Our two Dolly's Desserts retail stores
  • Our growing wholesale customer base

This is a full-time position with regular full-time hours available year-round. During the summer months and our busiest trading periods, additional hours may be required to support the needs of the business.

While full training will be provided for gelato production, applicants must have strong kitchen experience, a solid understanding of food, and the confidence to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, mix and produce gelato to consistently high standards
  • Operate, clean and maintain gelato production equipment & machinery
  • Create and develop exciting new gelato flavours and recipes
  • Adhere to weekly production schedules and deadlines
  • Complete all required paperwork and production records accurately
  • Maintain exceptional food safety, hygiene and health & safety quality standards are met
  • Keep the production kitchen clean, organised and a safe & efficient production environment

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

  • Minimum 2 years' experience working as a Chef
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, ingredients and kitchen operations
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Excellent attention to detail, with pride in producing high-quality products and maintaining exceptional quality standards.

Desirable

  • Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene qualification
  • Creative flair with a passion for flavour development and innovation

Applicants must be able to reliably commute to Barnsley or relocate before starting.
