General Advice Worker (Part-Time)
Location: Archway, London N19 Hours: 14 hours per week Contract: Initial 12-month fixed term (subject to continuation) Salary: £28,000 per annum Annual Leave: 10 days per year plus bank holidays (pro rata) Reports to: Project Manager

The Kurdish and Middle Eastern Women’s Organisation (KMEWO) has supported Black and Minoritised Women for over 27 years, including survivors of domestic abuse and harmful practices. Our mission is to empower women from Kurdish, Middle Eastern, and North African backgrounds in the UK, ensuring they achieve a safe, free, and legally independent life, free from violence.

Purpose of the Role
You will provide advice, advocacy, and support to Kmewa, Middle Eastern, North African (KMENA), and BAMER women, particularly those experiencing:
- Domestic abuse
- Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG)
- Social exclusion

Your work will help women gain access to services, safety, and independence.
Main Responsibilities

Provide advice, guidance, advocacy, and casework on:
- Domestic abuse
- Housing
- Welfare benefits
- Immigration
- Employment
- Debt advice
- Training opportunities

Assess client needs and make referrals to specialist and statutory services.

Deliver support through:
- One-to-one appointments
- Outreach sessions
- Telephone/online advice
- Group workshops

Promote KMEWO services via community outreach and partnerships.

Help women overcome barriers, including digital exclusion.

Recruit, supervise, and support volunteers as needed.

Maintain accurate records, including:
- Client records
- Case notes
- Monitoring information
-Collaborate with:
- Community organisations
- Local authorities
- Schools
- Faith groups

Prepare reports for monitoring, evaluation, and service development.

Essential Requirements
✅ Fluent in English, plus either:
- Kurdish
- Arabic
✅ Experience in:
- Advice provision
- Support advocacy
- Community outreach
✅ Ability to build strong stakeholder partnerships.
✅ Strong administrative and IT skills.
✅ Must be able to:
- Work independently
- Collaborate within a team
Desirable Skills
- Experience helping vulnerable women and disadvantaged groups.
- Understanding of:
- Domestic abuse
- VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls)
- Social issues
- Project management experience.
- Knowledge of:
- Volunteering best practices
- Social inclusion
- Community development frameworks
- Facilitation and group-work skills.
