General Assistant- Basingstoke
Store Colleague - Basingstoke
- Hours of Work: 8 per week
- Salary: £12.71 per hour
As a General Assistant at Hobbycraft, you will support the Store Management Team to deliver all aspects of the store operation, initiatives, and performance. Delivering an inviting, inspiring, and truly customer-focused experience is key to our continued success. You will demonstrate our brand values in every aspect of your work.

Areas of Responsibility
You will act as a brand ambassador, embodying our values:
- Customer service – Deliver outstanding service by putting customers at the heart of every interaction, showcasing passion and knowledge in craft
- Teamwork – Fostering strong relationships within the team, adhering to Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging policies
- Flexibility in change – Responsive to updates, approaching challenges proactively and adaptably
- Compliance – Following all Company policies and health and safety regulations
- Shop floor excellence – Maintaining high standards in displays, cleanliness, and stock presentation; assisting with stock replenishment
- Cash handling – Operating tills and managing transactions, processing cash, cards, and gift cards
- Click & Collect support – Assisting with collections and returns processes
- Stock control – Monitoring stock to minimise loss and ensuring correct tagging
- Workshops – Occasional hosting of craft-based events

What We’re Looking For
Desirable:
- Retail or similar experience
- Confident communicator excelling in customer-facing roles
- Passion for craft or experience engaging with hobbyists
- Selling skills as an asset
Essential Skills:
- Cash handling (efficient and accurate)
- Ability to work within guidelines and policies
- High standards of accuracy and presentation
- Adaptability to evolving tasks
- Brand advocacy – personal endorsement of Hobbycraft’s image
- Self-motivation and independence, whether working alone or as part of a team
- Ability to demonstrate craft knowledge demonstrable to customers
