General Building Engineer
HMP/YOI Styal, Wilmslow (SK9 4HR)
£28,792 - £31,792
Permanent | 39 hours per week
Hours:
- Sat–Thurs: 07:45 – 16:30
- Friday: 07:45 – 15:30
1 in 4 weekends (rota) + 15% shift allowance
About the Role
We’re looking for a General Building Engineer to join our team at HMP Styal, supporting the safe and compliant running of the site.
This is a varied, hands-on role covering fire safety, compliance checks, and general maintenance across a secure site.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Fire door maintenance
- Fire extinguisher checks and servicing
- Emergency lighting testing
- RCD testing
- Water temperature and flushing checks
- CCTV and alarm system support
- Checking smoke vents and misting units
- General compliance and maintenance tasks
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in fire doors, extinguishers, alarms, or emergency lighting
- Experience with RCD testing and water checks
- General building maintenance/compliance experience
- Able to work safely in a regulated environment
