Where will you be working?

At M Group Energy, we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives.

We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation.

This role will be within our Transmission Overhead Lines team. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.

What will you be doing?

As a General Foreman, your key responsibility will be supporting the Site Manager in the safe and efficient delivery of Transmission projects. You’ll coordinate site teams, plant, equipment and daily activities to ensure works are completed to programme, specification and client requirements. You’ll take the lead on site-level safety, quality and productivity, working closely with project teams, subcontractors, clients and internal departments to resolve issues, maintain progress and drive good operational performance.

  • Provide Technical governance on your allocated project and the wider business
  • Lead by example on health, safety, quality, and compliance through site visits and inspections
  • Ensure QA checks and ITP hold points are met (minimum 10% of works)
  • Promote and report SCRs/SORs weekly
  • Attend monthly safety calls and assist with investigations
  • Provide technical input and safe delivery solutions for bids
  • Attend site walkovers and support tender development
  • Supply resource/productivity data and accurate plant requirements
  • Support Site Manager in coordinating resources and ensuring compliance
  • Develop and maintain project documentation (RAMS, TWDBs, IVPs)
  • Ensure teams follow latest project documents and safety procedures
  • Act as Task Allocator and MEWP/Telehandler Coordinator
  • Attend site meetings and manage client documentation
  • Liaise with Design team on construction methods and changes
  • Support innovation trials and attend design meetings
  • Specify and manage plant/equipment needs (F2s/F4s)
  • Collaborate on equipment trials and feedback
  • Track actual vs. planned durations and support replanning
  • Encourage team development and assist with PDRs
  • Perform additional duties to meet business and client needs

What You’ll Bring

  • Ability to schedule a programme of work in a safe & efficient manner
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of the principles of CDM
  • Overhead Line design knowledge
  • Knowledge & practical experience of working under clients’ Safety Rules
  • Ability to operate a broad range of plant & equipment required on Transmission & Distribution projects
  • Significant experience of managing teams / gangs / working parties engaged in Transmission and / or Distribution overhead line projects
  • Extensive experience of working/Managing ‘wiring’ gangs for a minimum of 5 years
