General Foreman – Wessex Water (Bournemouth)

About the Role
An opportunity has arisen for a General Foreman to join Galliford Try, working under their Wessex Water framework. Based around Bournemouth, this role involves managing high-value projects across Dorset on behalf of Wessex Water.
Key Responsibilities
As General Foreman, you will:
- Take full responsibility for controlling all physical construction elements—from project inception to the Maintenance Certificate issuance—while optimising quality, service, and profitability.
- Manage day-to-day on-site construction operations, including:
- Resource coordination (labour, materials, plant).
- Ensuring temporary and permanent works comply with design specifications.
- Material and plant efficiency to meet programme and financial targets.
- Collaborate with site engineering teams on planning, programming, and scheduling.
- Attend site discipline meetings to drive effective coordination and timeline delivery.
- Implement and oversee Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) alongside Permit to Work systems before work begins.
About You: Essential and Desirable Criteria
Experience
- Essential: Proven experience in the construction industry, ideally within the water industry.
- Desirable:
- Familiarity with Wessex Water’s operational frameworks.
- Experience in managing high-value, infrastructure projects in rural/regional locations.
