Enable Resourcing are recruiting for an experienced General Foreman to join a leading civil engineering contractor delivering a £4m highways improvement scheme near Wells, Somerset.

The project involves the conversion of an existing junction into a new roundabout, including associated earthworks, drainage, highways infrastructure and traffic management works. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established contractor with a strong pipeline of work across the region.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Site Manager and Project Manager with the day-to-day delivery of the project, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, on programme and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily site operations.
  • Manage operatives, subcontractors and plant resources.
  • Ensure works are delivered safely in accordance with company procedures and industry regulations.
  • Monitor progress against programme and assist in achieving project milestones.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and workmanship across all activities.
  • Ensure permits, site records, inspections and daily diaries are completed accurately.
  • Support site management with planning, logistics and resource allocation.
  • Promote a positive health, safety and environmental culture on site.
  • Assist with customer and stakeholder engagement where required.
  • Identify risks and opportunities and contribute to successful project delivery.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a General Foreman within civil engineering or highways.
  • Strong background delivering highways, infrastructure, groundworks or heavy civil engineering projects.
  • Experience managing direct labour and subcontractors.
  • Good understanding of drawings, specifications and construction methodology.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts would be advantageous.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • SMSTS.
  • Valid CSCS Card.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
