General Foreperson

Location: Iver, Buckinghamshire

We are currently seeking a General Foreperson to join our AMP8 Framework Team, working on site at Affinity Water’s Iver Water Treatment Works. The project involves construction of a new Rapid Gravity Treatment Plant, alongside associated works to upgrade the existing clean water treatment facility.

In this role, you will play a key part in leading site operations, ensuring work is delivered safely, to specification, on programme and to the highest quality standards.

Our Environment Division delivers end-to-end (“source to sea”) asset solutions across the UK and Scotland, working on both framework and standalone projects. Since AMP3, we have successfully delivered over £2bn of assets for clients including Yorkshire Water, United Utilities, Anglian Water, Thames Water, Southern Water, Welsh Water and Scottish Water.

As a well-established partner in the water sector, we are entering an exciting period of transformation. We are continuing to innovate, invest in digital delivery and strengthen our long-term capability. This is a great opportunity to be part of that journey.

What you'll be doing

  • Promoting and maintaining a safe, healthy and inclusive site environment.
  • Supervising and supporting the site team and supply chain on a day-to-day basis.
  • Planning, coordinating and monitoring progress of allocated sections of work.
  • Managing labour, plant and materials to meet programme and cost targets.
  • Leading daily site activities and ensuring effective communication across teams.
  • Ensuring all works (temporary and permanent) are delivered in line with design and quality requirements.
  • Identifying and reporting any changes to scope, programme, design or commercial impacts.
  • Raising and supporting the resolution of technical challenges as they arise.
  • Carrying out regular health and safety inspections and promoting best practice.
  • Ensuring RAMS, permits to work, site inductions and safety briefings are correctly implemented.
  • Maintaining accurate site records, including detailed daily diaries.
  • Monitoring capability and workload of operatives and contractors, escalating concerns where needed.
  • Supporting the introduction of new processes, techniques and innovations on site.
  • Providing regular progress updates to the Site Manager.

About you

You will be someone who takes pride in leading by example and creating a positive site culture, while delivering complex work safely and efficiently. You will bring:

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
