General Maintenance Operative
Location: Newport Employment Type: Permanent Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am – 4:30pm Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per annum
Hawk 3 Talent Solutions are seeking a hands-on, reliable General Maintenance Operative to join their client’s growing facilities team, supporting a range of commercial sites across the UK.
This is a varied and practical role, where no two days are the same, spanning planned upkeep to reactive repairs for self-storage facilities, office spaces, and retail locations.
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
- General building maintenance and repairs (including roofing and cladding)
- Plumbing repairs and basic installations
- Joinery and carpentry work
- Painting and decorating tasks
- Tiling and flooring repairs (including carpets)
- External works such as paving and drainage maintenance
- Grounds upkeep and general site clearance
- Pressure washing external areas
- Furniture assembly, relocation, and removal
- Supporting both planned preventative maintenance and reactive works

About You
Ideal candidates should have:
- At least 3 years of experience in building maintenance or a similar multi-skilled trade role
- NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating (or equivalent qualification)
- Experience with roofing and cladding (desirable)
- A CSCS card (advantageous but not essential)
- A full UK driving licence
- The ability to work independently and manage own workload
- Strong organisational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines
- Proficiency in using IT systems for logging work completed and associated costs
- A good understanding of health and safety practices, including risk assessment awareness
