General Maintenance

General Maintenance Technician

Location: Antrim, Northern Ireland

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 45 hours per week

Salary: £33,069.86 + Overtime (1.5x)

Due to continued success and exciting growth within our business, we’re expanding our maintenance division to support new client contracts across the UK. As a General Maintenance Technician, you’ll help us deliver exceptional service on a local scale.

About The Role

As a General Maintenance Technician, you'll carry out a range of planned and reactive maintenance tasks, including building fabric repairs, groundworks, and basic plumbing. You'll ensure all assigned sites remain safe, compliant, and operational. The role is mobile and requires attention across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver scheduled PPM and reactive maintenance within SLAs across allocated sites.
  • Work safely and follow all compliance and Health & Safety guidelines.
  • Build strong relationships with Asda site teams and City colleagues.
  • Accurately update and close jobs using our Mercury platform.
  • Assess and complete service call requests efficiently.
  • Order and collect materials as needed for repair tasks.

Key Tasks

Building Fabric Maintenance:

  • Basic joinery
  • Painting & decorating
  • Basic plumbing
  • Minor floor repairs (tiling & vinyl)

Groundworks & Landscaping:

  • Laying slabs
  • Minor brickwork repairs
  • Block paving
  • Kerb installations
  • Concreting
  • Tarmac repairs
  • Fencing

HVAC Maintenance:

  • Filter cleaning

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation.
  • Identify issues beyond repair, conduct site surveys, and escalate with recommendations.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team to uphold site standards.

Essential Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Basic education (GCSEs or equivalent).
  • iPad/PC literate.
  • Ability to perform varied fabric and ground repair tasks to a high standard.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety.

Technical Competency:

  • Proficiency in using tools and completing related tasks.

Desirable Requirements

  • NVQ or City & Guilds qualification in a relevant trade.
  • Multi-trade background.
  • Groundworks experience, including:
    • Channel drain replacement
    • Manhole replacement
    • Modular paving
    • Concreting repairs
    • Tarmac repairs
    • Fencing
  • Experience in Facility Management (FM), retail, or public building sectors.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan materials and workload.
  • Confident working independently and as part of a small team.
  • Experienced in operating small plant and machinery.
  • Committed to delivering high standards of work while maintaining site safety.

  • Proactively seeks to improve site conditions and deliver high-quality work.
