The Role

Join Go-Ahead London as a General Manager, where you will be responsible for overseeing all garage-related activities, ensuring operational priorities are met, and leading a high-performing team. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that all buses leave the garages safely and on time, managing the garage teams, including the Site Cleaning Manager as a new direct report and the cleaning team, and maintaining the highest standards in operational performance, presentation, safety, and environmental management.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Oversee all garage activities and line manage operations, engineering, and risk functions.
- Line manage the Site Cleaning Manager as a new direct report, with oversight of the cleaning team responsible for vehicle and facilities presentation and cleaning, yard management, fuelling and powering the electric fleet.
- Provide effective leadership and ensure alignment with the company's mission and values.
- Establish and maintain a high-performing team that supports the delivery of our contractual KPIs.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure all buses depart on time and manage the follow-up of reported incidents.
- Conduct daily fleet presentations, uniform checks, and safety audits.
- Develop and implement corrective action plans for any operational shortcomings.
Engagement & Compliance
- Engage positively with driver and supervisor team members through activities such as pizza evenings and social events.
- Enforce driving and uniform standards, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Manage the TUPE process and ensure compliance with all TfL requirements.
Safety & Environmental Standards
- Ensure on-site safety and environmental standards are maintained.
- Create initiatives to reduce accidents and incidents on buses and in the workplace.
- Conduct risk assessments and daily visual checks within the garage.

Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders, including Trade Unions.
- Liaise with the schedules team on planned change dates and rota construction.
- Work closely with Transport for London to deliver on theirs and the networks requirements.
Safety Responsibilities
- Prioritise the safety of yourself and others by adhering to Health and Safety policies.
- Ensure garage safety rules are always enforced and complied with.
