General Manager

Location: Lurgan

Salary: £65k-£75k

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on General Manager to lead the operations and continued development of a polymers manufacturing business specialising in polymer compounding, pulverising, and recycling. Reporting to the Board, the successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management and performance of the facility, ensuring the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day management of the manufacturing facility and its workforce.
  • Oversee polymer compounding, pulverising, recycling, and associated production processes
  • Drive operational efficiency, productivity, quality, and cost control across all areas of the business.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality standards and maintain robust quality management systems.
  • Lead all Health, Safety, Environmental, and regulatory compliance activities
  • Manage, develop, and motivate production, technical, and operational teams
  • Work closely with customers and suppliers to maintain strong commercial relationships.
  • Manage raw material procurement, inventory control, and supplier performance.
  • Support product development initiatives, customer trials, and the evaluation of new materials and processes.
  • Oversee material trialling and product testing to support customer requirements and business growth opportunities.
  • Support the development and implementation of operational plans and business growth initiatives.
  • Ensure production targets, quality standards, delivery schedules, and customer expectations are consistently achieved.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities throughout the operation.
  • Prepare operational reports and provide regular updates to the Board on business performance.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience within polymers, plastics, recycling, compounding, or related manufacturing sectors.
  • Previous experience in a Production Manager, Operations Manager, Plant Manager, General Manager, or similar leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, process improvement, and production planning.
  • Experience managing ISO 9001 quality systems and Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated people management and leadership experience.
  • Commercial awareness with an understanding of budgets, costs, margins, and operational performance.
  • Engineering, manufacturing, or related technical qualification desirable.
