About The Role
As General Manager, you’ll lead the team to deliver consistently excellent customer service & experiences, across a varied offering, from day-to-day bistro and bar service, outdoor dining to 100-cover weddings, private dinners, and large-scale functions and internal events.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll be responsible for one of Glasgow’s most unique venues, loved by locals and tourists alike, with a full programme of events and a high volume of sales.
You will:
- Oversee the day-to-day venue operation across multiple service areas, leading from the front to deliver high-quality customer service, food and drink during busy services, weddings, events and private dining.
- Manage a complex, high-volume operation, balancing the demands of the bar and bistro, outdoor spaces and large functions while maintaining consistency and standards.
- Maintain exceptional organisation, with a strong focus on preparation, planning and forward-thinking to ensure seamless operations.
- Train, coach and develop your team, building a positive, high-performing venue culture.
- Demonstrate effective cost management showing a solid understanding of budgets, KPI’s and creating rotas whilst managing team cost.
- Working with the Head Chef, take responsibility for training the team & maintaining the high standards that are in place
- Display a strong knowledge of compliance management such as licensing, risk assessments and health & safety procedures.

About The Venue
Our city's oldest bar & restaurant set over three stunning floors; a sold-out ceilidh every Friday night, weddings booked in to our Grand Ballroom through till 2028, an amazing weekly in-house event programme complete with cinema night, our own macaroni appreciation club (SMAC!) and a beautiful outdoor heated courtyard; Sloans has been at the centre of Glasgow life since 1797.
Loved by locals and tourists for centuries and with a refurbishment and new concept launching for the First Floor, Sloans is busier than ever and continuing to grow. We’re looking for a General Manager that is ready to rise to the challenge and help shape what comes next.

About You
At Sloans, our mission is to create memorable experiences for every guest and we’re looking for a General Manager who shares that passion and thrives in a dynamic, high-volume environment where no two days are the same.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is up for a challenge and ready to hit the ground running
- Is confident delivering consistent, high-quality customer service in a high-volume environment, including 100-cover weddings, private dinners, and large-scale functions.
- Leads by example, communicates clearly and builds strong relationships within their team.
- Is reliable, hardworking and flexible, with a practical, hands-on approach to venue leadership.
- Has a mature and caring approach to team management but has a no-nonsense approach to dealing with issues.
- Pays close attention to detail and is comfortable following processes and paperwork, from rotas, to ordering and KPI management. Full training on systems will be provided.
