General Manager
General Manager (GM) – Electric Forecourt
Role Overview
The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall performance of the Electric Forecourt, including:
- Profit & Loss (P&L) and forecourt KPIs
- Team leadership, development, and management
- Partnership coordination
- Onsite customer experience delivery
- Oversight of well-being, safety, and operational standards
The Electric Forecourt is one of the most technologically advanced EV charging stations, powered entirely by 100% renewable energy. It features:
- A retail facility with a high-quality customer lounge for charging passengers
- An educational space providing insights into electric vehicles, solar energy, and ecology
Main Responsibilities
Performance & Financial Accountability
- Deliver KPI targets, ensuring both financial and non-financial goals are exceeded.
- Optimise cost management, including inventory, labour, rewards, and shrinkage.
Customer Experience & Brand Leadership
- Provide a "best-in-class" customer experience, embedding brand standards and exceptional service.
- Create and maintain a customer-centric environment demystifying EV barriers and fostering education.
Team Management & Development
- Recruit, onboard, train, and develop a high-performing team at all career stages.
- Conduct performance management and career development reviews.
- Foster a safety-first culture and maintain a positive work environment.
Operational & Commercial Excellence
- Coordinate day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency, sales optimisation, and brand compliance.
- Analyse performance, identify opportunities, and implement strategic improvements.
- Manage promotions, training, and team motivation to drive sales targets.
- Lead team meetings and knowledge sharing.

Regulatory & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to licensing laws, including designation as premises supervisor.
- Maintain fo teljesen compliance across technical, health & safety, and organisational standards.
- Conduct scheduled audits and close gaps to ensure ISO alignment.
Facility & Contractor Oversight
- Maintain brand standards in site presentation and cleanliness.
- Manage maintenance contractors and resolve operational issues promptly.
- Inspect and approve forward-thinking investments (e.g., EV innovation piloting).
More to Expect
- Non-standard shift patterns, including early/late shifts, weekends, and bank holidays.
- Alongstanding collaboration with internal (e.g., GRIDSERVE finance, compliance) and external partners (e.g., energy providers, regulatory agencies).
Person Specification
Required Experience
✅ Substantial management experience in:
- Retail or hospitality, with responsibility for multi-channel operations, team oversight, and revenue outcomes.
- Managing a P&L for a retail outlet, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Supervising staff at all levels, from recruitment to performance management.
- Delegation of responsibilities, prioritising team performance against operational goals.

IT & Software Proficiency
- Technical: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite + Communication Tools (Teams, Engage, Connected platforms).
- Operational Tools: Used to workplace systems like POS, inventory/HR software, compliance dashboards.
Required Qualifications & Certifications
🔹 Full UK driving licence, held for 2+ years. 🔹 In-depth knowledge of Health & Safety (H&S) regulations in retail/hospitality. 🔹 Valid Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering (or equivalent qualified certification). 🔹 Preference given to those familiar with EV industry, renewable energy contexts, or sustainable retail.
