We’re Hiring a General Manager – Glasgow Trongate Hub

About the Role
As General Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day operations of our busy Glasgow Trongate Hub while supporting a network of spoke stores across Scotland. Your responsibilities will include:
- Strategic leadership: Balance commercial decision-making with hands-on operational management, ensuring Both helped businesses grow and colleagues excel.
- Team development: Inspire and grow high-performing teams across the network, fostering a positive, accountable, and collaborative culture.
- Customer transformation: Focus on delivering exceptional customer experiences while maintaining clinical excellence and business growth.
- Geographic coverage: The role includes headquarters in Glasgow (Troisgite Hub) and face-to-face engagement with local stores, including customer-facing responsibilities.
No two days will be the same—this varied leadership role demands adaptability, impact, and a passion for results-driven excellence.

Location & Scope
- Primary base: Specsavers Glasgow Trongate Hub.
- Spoke stores supported: Airdrie, Barrhead, Coatbridge, Cumbernauld, Dumbarton, Glasgow Forge, Hamilton, Lanark, Largs, Paisley, Stirling (including Byres Road).
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a commercially unstoppable leader who excels at:
- Driving performance: A proven track record of boosting profitability, devising strategies, and executing bold initiatives.
- Coaching teams: A passion for people development, empowering growth through mentorship, feedback, and their values-driven culture.
- Operational execution: Experience managing fast-paced environments, meeting targets, and balancing strategic and tactical priorities.
- Data & improvement: Ability to analyse performance, identify trends, and implement evidence-based solutions.
- Adaptive mindset: Confidence in nanabanding change, resolving crises, and motivating teams through ambiguity.
Experience
We prioritize leadership across retail or hospitality, though optical or Specsavers experience is advantageous. Candidates who:
- Understand our model: Counselors drive at Specsavers’ partnership-based service and can transition seamlessly align early goals.
- Truly align with our values: Value customer obsession and high standards in both service and productivity. Relevant retail, ophthalmic service, or customer-centred commercial experience is rewarded—even if outside traditional optical settings!
