General Manager – Nissan & Kia Dealership

Location: Gloucester Business: Wessex Garages


About Wessex Garages

Wessex Garages is a highly successful and stable business known for its customer-focused approach and outstanding brand performance. We’re seeking a dynamic and visionary General Manager to lead our Nissan and Kia site in Gloucester.

This pivotal role involves:

  • Overseeing day-to-day operations
  • Taking full responsibility for financial performance
  • Providing effective leadership

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, coach, and motivate a team of automotive retail professionals across:
    • Sales
    • Aftersales
    • Parts
  • Ensure all departments are adequately staffed
  • Foster a high-performance culture by:
    • Recognising and rewarding exceptional achievements
    • Effectively addressing underperformance

Financial Planning & Performance

  • Establish annual financial and growth objectives for each department
  • Develop strategies to meet:
    • Profit targets
    • Product targets
  • Prepare accurate dealership reporting and forecasting aligned with group frameworks
  • Oversee marketing strategies in accordance with manufacturer guidelines to support business objectives
  • Drive outstanding customer satisfaction across Sales, Aftersales, and Parts
  • Coach leadership teams to spearhead consistent excellence

  • Ensure all dealership activities comply with:

Required Experience & Skills

The ideal candidate must meet the following criteria:

Core Requirements

  • Prior experience as a General Manager in the motor trade
  • Strong understanding of managing accountable business units

  • Strong leadership abilities to inspire and coach a diverse team
  • Unwavering professionalism and composure in high-pressure environments
  • Exceptional stakeholder management for internal/external relationships
