Kolamba Soho
Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum + performance bonus (dependent on experience)
Location: Soho, London | Full Time
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced General Manager to lead our Soho restaurant.
Kolamba is an independent, founder-led restaurant group celebrating the food and hospitality of Sri Lanka. Since opening, we’ve built a loyal following, earned national recognition and established ourselves as one of Soho’s most loved neighbourhood restaurants.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys leading from the floor, building a strong team and delivering consistently great hospitality. You’ll work closely with the founders and senior leadership team, taking ownership of both the guest experience and the commercial performance of the restaurant.
What We’re Looking For
- At least 2 years’ experience as a General Manager, or a proven Assistant General Manager ready to take the next step.
- Experience running a quality, high-volume restaurant.
- A visible leader who enjoys being on the restaurant floor and leads by example.
- Someone who genuinely enjoys developing people and building strong teams.
- A calm, positive approach to service, with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience managing labour, stock, costs and budgets.
- Confident using the numbers to drive covers, revenue and profitability.
- Someone who takes pride in maintaining exceptionally high standards throughout the restaurant.
- A natural host who enjoys building relationships with regular guests and creating memorable experiences.
- Organised, accountable and able to make good decisions in a busy service.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About Kolamba
Kolamba was founded by husband-and-wife team Eroshan and Aushi Meewella to share the food and hospitality they grew up with in Sri Lanka.
Since opening in Soho, Kolamba has become one of London’s best-known Sri Lankan restaurants, recognised for bold flavours, warm service and a welcoming atmosphere. Alongside our Soho restaurant, we’ve expanded with Kolamba East in the City and continue to grow as an independent restaurant group.
We're ambitious, but we remain hands-on. We believe great restaurants are built by great people, and we're looking for a General Manager who shares that approach.
“It took my CV and asked me questions relevant to understanding what kind of jobs to suggest for me. Suggestions were almost perfect. Jobs were exactly what I’ve been looking for.”
