General Manager - Courtyard by Marriott Glasgow SEC

This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Hotel Co 51. The franchisee is a separate company and a separate employer from Marriott International, Inc. The franchisee solely controls all aspects of the hotel’s employment policies and practices, including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, compensation, benefits, and all other terms and conditions of employment. If you accept a position at this hotel, you will be employed by a franchisee and not by Marriott International, Inc.

Gross salary - competitive

Reporting to the Cluster General Manager, your focus is on the operation of the hotel, creating the Courtyard by Marriott experience, adhering to local hotel regulations and overseeing all hotel departments.

We are looking for an energetic multitasker who leads from the front to maintain an efficient hotel operation and inspires their team to overdeliver for guests by working hard and having fun. Maintains high standards, has an eye for detail, as well as a sound business understanding. Builds relationships with key partners and welcomes activity into the hotel by bringing the Courtyard brand to life, creating a fun and relaxed environment that makes guests feel at home.

Main tasks & responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day hotel operations.
  • Customer service, guest relations, and creating positive guest experiences.
  • Recruits and develops a team that delivers excellent service to align with our Courtyard by Marriott core brand values.
  • Ensure a profitable hotel operation in line with company goals.
  • Manage the team effectively and enforce company policies and standards.
  • Actively involved in the day to day tasks of the team.
  • Managing Food & Beverage within the Brand guidelines.
  • Manage hotel room inventory and overseeing the Front Desk to ensure a perfect Courtyard by Marriott stay.
  • Follow all food safety, licensing, and health and safety policies to ensure Health and Safety compliance.
  • Promote and support the Courtyard brand and the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program.
  • Responsible for all aspects of HR processes within the hotel, including payroll.

Useful Experience

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of hotel management experience
  • Must have property management system (preferably Opera) experience
  • Knowledge of Point of Sale system (Preferably Micros)
  • Knowledge of Food Safety & Licensing laws
  • Knowledge of maintaining brand standards
  • Event management, marketing, or social media experience
  • Personal experience of travel and travel industry
