About Us: General Manager – Healthcare Instrument Processing (Birmingham)

We’re seeking a General Manager to lead our sterile services unit in Birmingham, driving operational excellence and ensuring top-tier service delivery across all aspects of instrument reprocessing.


The Opportunity

You’ll be responsible for leading a high-performance team through science-backed, quality-focused processes that uphold the highest regulatory, safety, and service standards. This is a chance to direction a business-critical service—where efficiency, care, and cost-savings intersect to make a measurable difference.


Your Impact: Key Responsibilities

  • Operations Leadership:

    • Oversee the end-to-end management of sterile services, from processing checks to customerKappa service delivery.
    • Ensure timely, high-quality reprocessing of medical instruments while adhering to strict QMS standards and regulatory compliance.
    • Optimise the use of human resources, equipment, and materials to balance service expectations with operational excellence.
  • Performance & Governance:

    • manter Budgetary and financial control to meet commercial targets and maintain revenue streams.
    • Drive business development and strategic planning, aligning the unit’s goals with evolving customer demands.
    • Lead in Risk Management, Health & Safety, and Security compliance, upholding company and legal standards.

  • Customer & Quality Focus:

    • Elevate customer satisfaction through reactive and proactive service delivery, addressing feedback and ensuring transparency.

Who Are We Looking For? Essentials

  • A historically strong background working at a senior management level (5+ years).
  • Degree or HND/ND equivalent in a scientific subject (e.g., Microbiology, Biomedical Sciences, Healthcare Administation, or Decontamination Science) will be a clear advantage—but other relevant qualifications will be considered.
  • Proven track record of operational efficiency in regulated environments (e.g., healthcare reprocessing, clinical settings).
  • Resilience to tight deadlines—the ability to manage multiple targets without compromising on standards.

Bonus Competencies

✔ Working Knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulatory frameworks, and UK Quality Systems such as ISO 13485. ✔ Up-to-date H&S Certification (or willingness to obtain). ✔ Clean UK driving license + Passport for mobility/travel frequency. ✔ Clean stick with full shift practices—you’ll be subject to reference checks with your current and previous employers.

Working Pattern

9-to-5 Mon-Fri baseline:

  • 0800 AM – 1730 PM (Standard, Office-based presence).
  • 40-hour working week with a focus on measured impact.
