General Manager
Reporting to the Group COO, the General Manager holds overall responsibility for the team, guest experience, hotel operations and our leisure club.
You’ll be responsible for brand delivery and guest services experience, leisure club management, hospitality leadership and people management, commercial engagement, compliance, technology and sustainability.
As part of the Watergate Bay family of hotels, you’ll be working with a vibrant, proactive and experienced team who are known for delivering groundbreaking lifestyle experience.
Responsibilities
- Shaping and delivering the hotel operational strategy for the business
- Working proactively to improve efficiencies and performance
- Driving our guest services experience
- Delivering the best-in-class gym and leisure facilities and services
- Working in collaboration with the group executive team to plan and deliver long-term strategies that hit brand, guest and commercial targets
- Analysing management reporting to track performance against key measures including costs, revenues, guest satisfaction and health & safety
- Working with the group HR and executive team to implement a people plan which connects with our wider business’ people strategy
- Working closely with our revenue and reservations team to maximise commerciality
- Leading the aparthotel senior operations team
- Providing clear guidance and inspiration to all team members through regular communications
- Using feedback and insight to drive innovation and enhancements
- Providing leadership/mentorship coaching and performance management to all direct reports and ensure the company-wide tools are being delivered across all operational areas
- Working with the Group executive team to deliver the development project pipeline which delivers growth and enhances the guest experience
- Working with project management colleagues, to ensure on-budget and on-programme delivery of projects

Requirements
- You’ll have a bright and positive personality
- You live and breathe hospitality
- You possess a high level of commercial acumen
- A good spreadsheet makes you smile – you love the business side of the business
- You know that a strong team is key to running a tight ship
- You understand leisure clubs, leisure memberships and how to grow this field
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within the hospitality and leisure industry
- Credibility in hospitality and a deep up-to-date knowledge of the sector
- Front of house expertise
- Strong, instinctive and empathic leadership skills and the ability to foster change
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
- A blend of creativity and process know-how, with an understanding of the mix needed to deliver
- A belief in modern hospitality and a desire to innovate
- A clear understanding of brand and its power and impact
- A team spirit that knows the importance of relationships – with your teams, partners and guests
- A love for what you do, and an enthusiasm that inspires those around you
- Ambition and a long-term outlook
