General Manager - Ophthalmology and Medical Technology

Evolve are partnering with a leading organisation within the ophthalmology and medical technology sector to recruit an experienced and commercially driven General Manager. This is a rare opportunity to lead a well-established business, driving profitable growth, shaping commercial strategy, and inspiring high-performing sales, marketing, and customer service teams. Working closely with key customers, key opinion leaders, and international supplier partners, you'll play a pivotal role in expanding market share, launching innovative products, and delivering long-term business success within the ophthalmology market.

This is a full-time, permanent position working on a hybrid basis from our client's head office in Hertfordshire.

  • A proven commercial leader with a strong track record of delivering profitable growth, winning new business, and consistently exceeding ambitious sales targets within the medical device sector.
  • An inspiring people manager who is passionate about coaching, developing and leading high-performing teams to achieve exceptional results in both field-based and office environments.
  • A strategic commercial thinker with the ability to align sales and marketing activities, using market insight, pricing strategy, and customer engagement to drive long-term business success.
  • A confident relationship builder and communicator who excels at influencing senior decision-makers, key opinion leaders and strategic customers, creating lasting partnerships that deliver commercial value.

Role Responsibilities for the General Manager

  • Lead the commercial success of the business by owning UK sales strategy and delivering ambitious revenue, profitability and growth targets across key markets and customer segments.
  • Shape the future of the business by identifying new market opportunities, expanding strategic partnerships, and driving sustainable growth through innovative commercial planning.
  • Build and influence high-value relationships with senior NHS stakeholders, key opinion leaders, strategic customers, and supplier partners, helping to secure major commercial opportunities.
  • Inspire and develop a high-performing team by leading, coaching, and empowering sales, customer service, and marketing colleagues to achieve exceptional results within a collaborative, performance-focused culture.
