General Manager – AngloThai (Michelin star)
£75k + bonus
OVERVIEW
AngloThai is a Thai inspired restaurant in Marylebone, that opened in November 2024. It achieved a Michelin star just four months after opening. In the first year it was ranked as Nr 7 in National Restaurant Awards Top 100 and named as The Square Opening of the Year.
The kitchen is led by Chef John Chantarask, who is half British and half Thai - his food is innovative, re-imagining Thai flavours through hyper seasonal produce. The restaurant has around 50 covers, and a 16 cover private dining room - Baan. The wine programme is designed and led by John's partner, Desiree.
We are looking for an exceptional, passionate, guest focused General Manager to lead this restaurant through its next chapter.
This is a hands-on, floor first leadership role for someone who lives and breathes hospitality, as comfortable creating magical guest moments as managing the business.
As General Manager, you will own every aspect of the guest experience, lead a talented team of hospitality professionals, and uphold the standards that earned us our Michelin star.
You will manage the full operation of our restaurant, kitchen and Baan our Private Dining room and be accountable for both the culture and performance of the restaurant.
What we are looking for:
- Minimum 2-4 years' experience as a General Manager.
- Proven track record in managing quality restaurants (£70K+ net per week average).
- Obsessed with guest experience, hands-on, floor-based, and leading from the front.
- An empathic and respected people leader who builds positive team culture.
- Diligent custodian of the physical site, maintaining impeccable standards across property, facilities, and cleanliness.
- Expert at managing Heads of Department, delegating, developing, and holding teams accountable so the restaurant runs seamlessly in your absence.
- Strong in recruitment, training, and team progression across all areas of the restaurant.
- Exceptional attention to detail, spotting issues before they arise across guest experience, people, and operations.
- P&L expert: driving revenue through covers, SPH, events and local engagement, while managing labour, GP and all controllable costs with precision.
- Strategic thinker who proactively identifies improvements and implements solutions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About MJMK Restaurants
MJMK Restaurants owns and operates a collection of award-winning restaurants. Founded in 2018 by lifelong friends Jake Kasumov and Marco Mendes, our journey began with Casa do Frango.
In 2020, we partnered with chef patron Santiago Lastra to open KOL, a restaurant in Marylebone celebrating Mexican cuisine with British ingredients. KOL has since earned a Michelin Star and been named one of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants.
2024 saw two new ventures: Fonda, a contemporary Mexican concept in Mayfair - our second collaboration with Santiago Lastra - and AngloThai in Marylebone, a debut restaurant from husband and wife John and Desiree Chantarasak, blending Thai flavours with British ingredients. Within three months of opening, AngloThai earned a Michelin star.
In the 2025 National Restaurant Awards, AngloThai was named The Square Opening of the Year and ranked 7th in the Top 100 list, followed by KOL at number 50. Luso, a contemporary Portuguese restaurant in Fitzrovia, opened in September 2025.
We’re building ambitious restaurant brands with a focus on quality, creativity and guest experience, and we’re just getting started.
