General Manager

We're looking for a General Manager to join our Velindre Cancer Care Centre team based in Cardiff.

Hours

40 hours per week

We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.

We're seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead the delivery of Hard Facilities Management services at the Velindre Cancer Care Centre – a flagship, complex healthcare facility delivered under a Mutual Investment Model (MIM). This is a pivotal role that will guide the contract through final mobilisation, commissioning, and transition into full operational service, ensuring readiness across all engineering systems, asset data, compliance frameworks, and service delivery models. You'll hold full accountability for operational, technical, commercial and compliance performance, ensuring the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of all hard FM services within a highly regulated, patient-critical environment.

What will you be responsible for?

As a General Manager, you'll be working within the Hard Facilities Management Team, supporting them in delivering excellence in a healthcare setting. Your day-to-day will include:

  • Providing strategic and operational leadership for the contract, ensuring delivery against KPIs, SLAs, and contractual obligations whilst leading mobilisation and transition into live operations
  • Maintaining full compliance with all statutory, mandatory, and contractual obligations, including healthcare-specific standards, and providing technical leadership across all engineering disciplines
  • Holding full responsibility for contract P&L, cost control, and financial performance, managing budgets, lifecycle expenditure, and long-term financial planning
  • Leading, inspiring and developing a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team, establishing strong competency frameworks and fostering a positive, inclusive and safety-first culture
  • Acting as the senior representative for Kier, building and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with the Health Board, Project Co, construction partners and supply chain

What are we looking for?

This role of General Manager is great for you if:

  • You have extensive experience in a senior FM leadership role within complex or critical environments, ideally delivering large-scale FM contracts within PFI/PPP or MIM structures
  • You bring a strong technical background in hard FM or building services engineering with a mechanical or electrical bias
  • You have demonstrable experience managing mobilisation and transition into operations, PPM, lifecycle and statutory compliance
  • You possess strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, P&L and contract performance, alongside comprehensive knowledge of health and safety legislation and compliance frameworks
  • You have excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with experience managing large teams and specialist subcontractors, and are confident operating at senior levels
