General Manager | Full time | Erith based
We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our pallet operation, driving exceptional delivery performance and outstanding customer service. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will play a critical role in shaping our direction, championing our culture, and supporting our continued growth and success.
This position goes beyond operational oversight — it’s about consistently putting the customer at the centre of everything we do and inspiring your teams to do the same.
The Role
As General Manager, you will provide effective leadership across warehouse and transport functions, ensuring smooth, efficient, and compliant operations. You will continuously review and challenge processes to identify improvements, operational efficiencies, and commercial opportunities.
You will hold full accountability for depot performance, including managing budgets, maximising profitability, and achieving agreed service, cost, quality, and compliance KPIs. This is a highly visible role where your decisions will directly influence business results.
The Salary
Up to £65k per annum, depending on experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsibility for actively managing the day-to-day running and operational procedures/performance of this depot with a "hands-on approach"
- Leading and motivating a team in the pursuit of demanding cost, productivity, and quality targets.
- Responsible for Compliance, Health and Safety, and Depot Cost Analysis
- Staff appraisals and disciplinaries when necessary
- Ensuring we meet and exceed challenging network service levels will be a key requirement of this role.

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Have previous experience in managing a large team of people
- Demonstrate a background of success in achieving and exceeding targets whilst delivering an outstanding experience in a fast-paced environment
- Exhibit practical knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety regulations
- Have experience of managing a budget, working to operational KPIs and financial targets
- Be motivated and passionate
- Have a strong work ethic and desire to work as a team
- Demonstrate excellent communication both verbally and written and the ability to build excellent relationships with peers, team members, and key stakeholders
- Have experience working within Supply chain, logistics, FMCG, warehouse, or distribution at management level, including managing fleet operations
- Have a full UK driving license
- CPC
