General Manager - The Station, Bearsden, Glasgow
Salary – Up to £45,000 p.a.
About Us
Stonegate Group is the UK’s largest operator of pubs, bars, and late-night venues, including Slug & Lettuce, Be At One, and Popworld, to name a few. We’re proud of our diverse portfolio and deeply committed to creating an inclusive culture that embraces individuality in all its forms—including neurodiversity. By fostering an environment where everyone feels welcome, valued, and supported, we reflect the vibrant communities we serve and empower our people to thrive.
The Opportunity
If you’re the kind of manager who thrives at the heart of a busy, community-led pub and knows how to bring energy to every part of the day, from the first coffee to the last round, then The Station in Bearsden could be exactly what you’re looking for.
Located right next to Bearsden train station on Drymen Road, The Station sits in one of Glasgow’s most affluent and vibrant areas. It’s a pub that naturally draws people in, whether that’s commuters grabbing food and drink throughout the day, locals catching up in evenings, or the weekend crowd looking for a great atmosphere. This is a pub that plays a real role in its community, and we’re looking for a General Manager who can build on that further.
Inside, the expansive ground floor bar offers a mix of booth seating, that creates the perfect setting for everything from a busy lunchtime service to evening entertainment. Upstairs, the first floor provides a flexible private space that’s ideal for larger groups and events, giving you a real opportunity to drive bookings and build strong relationships within the local community. With lots of TV screens, private viewing booths and three Sky boxes, sport is a huge part of what we do here, so creating an unbeatable matchday atmosphere across a range of sports is key.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About You
As General Manager, you’ll take ownership of the business. You’ll be responsible for delivering consistently high standards across food, drink, service and atmosphere while building a team that reflects those standards every day. This is a hands-on role where leading from the front matters.
A strong connection to the community is essential here. The Station is a hub, and the best General Managers make that feel natural, building relationships with local guests, encouraging repeat visits, and making the venue the first choice for everything from casual drinks to big celebrations.
You’ll also need to be completely at home in a sport-driven environment, knowing how to maximise key fixtures and create memorable experiences that keep guests coming back. Just as importantly, you’ll have a proven track record of developing people, bringing out the best in your team, building confidence, and creating a culture where standards are non-negotiable, but the environment is supportive and engaging.
