Main Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Team Management

  • Register with the Care Quality Commission (CQC)
  • Motivate, support, and inspire all team members to align with the Loveday mission—"Above and Beyond"
  • Oversee recruitment and training, ensuring targets are met and staff are competent
  • Enforce and uphold Loveday Brand standards
  • Manage daily rotas and ensure correct team composition (staffing levels and skill mix)
  • Lead heads of departments to achieve ’Outstanding’ status across the CQC framework
  • Conduct clinical supervision, appraisals, and performance management to help staff realise their potential

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure internal and external compliance meets the highest standards
  • Uphold regulatory and mandatory requirements, including food safety, health & safety, and legislative frameworks
  • Communicate effectively with members, relatives, and external stakeholders to deliver relationship-centred care
  • Meet all regulatory, statutory, and policy requirements
  • Address audit findings within set timeframes
  • Maintain accurate record-keeping, particularly care plans and service delivery records
  • Ensure health and safety compliance—supervise staff awareness, address hazards, and maintain a safe environment

Environment & Service Quality

  • Oversee environmental upkeep, repairs, and furnishings to ensure a homely, clean, and well-maintained residence
  • Continuously improve member experience through audits and management processes
  • Strengthen understanding of customer/member needs and drive continuous improvement

Financial & Business Oversight

  • Manage financial budgets to meet revenue and income targets
  • Develop and present an annual business plan for the residence
  • Achieve financial targets through revenue growth and cost management
  • Market the residence to increase occupancy and fees, leveraging unique selling points
  • Secure a positive reputation with local referrers and influencers
  • Collaborate with the Relationship and Sales team (sales tours, meetings, and events)
  • Adhere to financial controls and supervise monetary processes

HR & Administrative Duties

  • Lead recruitment, selection, induction, and staff retention (compliance with legislation and policies)
  • Manage staff performance to meet member/business needs and statutory requirements
  • Address performance gaps with support from HR as required
  • Identify training needs via the appraisal system

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong motivational leadership and management abilities
  • Ability to build meaningful relationships with all stakeholders (staff, members, families)
  • Open to feedback for growth
  • Professional demeanour—exudes confidence and credibility
  • Business acumen with financial awareness
  • Exceptional communication skills (written, verbal, and non-verbal)
  • Proficiency in finance/budgeting and business planning
  • Microsoft Office expertise (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Explorer)

Qualifications

  • Registered Managers Award or ILM Level 5 in Management (equivalent required)
  • (Desirable) Registered Mental Nursing (RMN) qualification
  • (Desirable) Dementia care certification
