General Manager Role

This new venture is our most significant commercial launch in a decade, and as General Manager you will play the lead role in making it a success.

Starting shortly before launch you will open the venue, set its standards, build its team and help shape its identity as a high-quality Oxford Road bar and social venue trading from morning coffee through to late-night drinks. Every commercial pound the venue generates goes back into supporting students at the University of Manchester, making this one of the few General Manager roles where the P&L has a purpose beyond profit alone.

The role sits within the Commercial team, working alongside colleagues responsible for Manchester Academy Venues, Bar 532 & Kitchen and Corridor Coffee. Together, the team generates the trading income that supports the Union’s student-facing work while delivering first-class hospitality experiences for students, staff, gig-goers and the wider Oxford Road community.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
