Our client is seeking a dynamic and commercially driven General Manager (GM) to oversee business operations, drive strategic growth, and lead high-performing teams across the United Kingdom.

This executive leadership opportunity is ideal for an experienced business leader with a strong background in operations, commercial management, business development, financial oversight, and organizational leadership.

About the Role

As the General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership and performance of the business, ensuring operational excellence, financial sustainability, customer satisfaction, and long-term growth.

Working closely with executive leadership and key stakeholders, you will develop and execute business strategies, optimize operational performance, strengthen customer relationships, and lead cross-functional teams to achieve strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Leadership

  • Lead the overall operations and strategic direction of the business.
  • Develop and execute business growth strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Drive organizational performance, profitability, and operational excellence.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Business Development & Growth

  • Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams.
  • Build and strengthen strategic relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Drive market expansion and customer acquisition initiatives.
  • Monitor market trends and competitive developments to support business growth.

Operations Management

  • Oversee day-to-day business operations to ensure efficiency and service excellence.
  • Optimize business processes, systems, and operational performance.
  • Ensure effective resource planning and operational execution.
  • Monitor key operational and financial performance indicators.

Financial Management

  • Manage business budgets, forecasting, and financial performance.
  • Drive profitability through effective cost management and revenue optimization.
  • Review financial reports and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and corporate governance standards.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop senior management and cross-functional teams.
  • Build a high-performance culture focused on collaboration and accountability.
  • Oversee workforce planning, talent development, and succession planning.
  • Promote employee engagement and leadership development.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with UK employment laws, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies.
  • Manage business risks and implement effective governance frameworks.
  • Maintain strong relationships with regulators, partners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Champion ethical business practices and corporate responsibility.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • MBA or other postgraduate qualification is highly desirable.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10–15 years' progressive leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a General Manager, Country Manager, Operations Director, or equivalent executive leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing business operations, financial performance, and commercial growth.
  • Strong strategic planning, business development, and operational management expertise.
  • Excellent financial acumen and experience managing budgets and P&L.
  • Outstanding leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams within a fast-paced business environment.
