About The Role

Location: Various sites across East Coast of Scotland (Dundee)

Role Type: Site-based / travelling role

Balfour Beatty Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D) is seeking motivated and reliable General Operatives (Civils) to support our growing portfolio of projects across Scotland

Working as part of our delivery teams, you will play a key role in supporting the efficient operation of project stores, yards, and site logistics for works associated with high voltage overhead transmission lines.

This is a hands-on role suited to individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced, outdoor environment and are willing to travel to support projects where required.

What you'll be doing

  • To Assist with

  • The HGV driver with all duties

  • The Stores Person of all duties.

  • The co-ordination of plant & stock ensuring all administration procedures are followed and ensuring accurate stock management.

  • Liaise with operational Staff to ensure materials required for site are arranged and accessible in line with operational needs

  • Unloading & loading of delivery vehicles.

  • Check deliveries against advice notes and for quality, quantities & damage.

  • Hiring, acceptance and off hiring of plant and equipment.

  • Management of the calibration of tools & equipment (inc Lifting)

  • Security of yard ensuring access is only permitted to authorised personnel.

  • Ensuring yard(s) and store is always tidy.

  • Take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and of others who may be affected by your actions or omissions whilst at work.

  • Cooperate with BB in all matters pertaining to Health and Safety to enable the Company to carry out and enhance its legal duties and requirements.

  • Do not recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of health, safety and welfare.

  • Bring to the attention of your manager any perceived shortcomings in health and safety arrangements or situations that you consider to be serious or imminent danger to yourself or others.

  • Do not undertake any safety critical work activity or activity for which a specific competence is required unless you have received the necessary training/instruction and/or assessment and hold the appropriate Certificate of Competence/Authority to Work. Do not instruct others to undertake such work if they do not hold the appropriate Certificate of Competence/Authority to Work.

Who we're looking for

The Following Qualities/experience Are Essential

  • Full clean driving licence
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to undertake work in high pressure situations

The Following Qualities/experience Are Desirable

  • Experience of working on a variety of construction project types.
  • Knowledge of the Power industry (is an advantage)
  • Valid Telehandler licence (will be an advantage)
  • OHL Authorisations (will be an advantage)
  • Emergency First Aid at Work
