General Operative

About the Role As a General Operative at ENVA, you’ll play an essential role in driving sustainability through recycling and reprocessing Small Domestic Appliances (SDAs) and refrigeration units. Your core focus will be on safe material handling, dismantling, sorting, and preparing electronic waste for modern recycling methods. Ensuring compliance with both health/safety regulations and environmental standards will form the backbone of your contributions, while supporting the efficient growth of ENVA’s recycling operations.
Key Responsibilities

Material Sorting & Handling:
- Accurately triage incoming waste (e.g. televisions, fridges, computers, mobile phones, appliances) to correct recycling streams.
- Work systematically to segregate components by repurposing potential and hazardous materials.

Mechanical Processing:
- Safely dismantle electronic equipment, recovering materials like:
- Circuit boards, cables, batteries (包括笔记本 配件和 PC 配件;
- Refrigerant hydrocarbons (for environmentally compliant evacuation).
- Operate industrial machinery (e.g., shredders, balers) to maximise recycling yields while adhering to OEM safety guidelines.

Quality Control & Compliance:
- Inspect all incoming materials to confirm adherence to ENVA’s recycling standards and regulatory limits.
- Monitor safety-critical components (e.g. regulations under WEEE/WEEE-Directive).

- Safety & Teamwork:
- Prioritise occupational safety, including PPE mandates and reporting hazards, especially around refrigeration hazards.
- Collaborate with teammates to hit daily targets — and advocate best practice in a team-focused environment.
- Maintain a sterile, hazard-free workspace in line with warehouse protocols.
NB: Duties include adapting to tasks as required, provided they align with this role’s standards.
Skills, Knowledge & Requirements
- Prevous Experience: Experience within recycling/waste processing (additional experience in electronics dismantling highly desirable).
- Regulatory Compliance: Proficiency in UK-specific polymer waste/hazardous materials rules (Warehouse Handling Code, REACH directives).
- Technical Attributes: — Mechanical aptitude to crush, pull-apart, or transport heavy materials. — Ability to operate machinery (even if untrained; must WILTI según empresa).
- Physical Demands: Regular use of manual labour (bending, reaching, lifting up to 23kg), moving under time pressure. Good mobility is essential.

Job Details
- Location: Grantham HQ (warehouse/process plant).
- Hours: 39.5 hrs/week, Monday–Friday Weekends: Requires working every 4th Saturday. Shift Patterns: — £13.05 (6am–2pm or 2pm–10pm) — bonus £13.34/hour for 10pm–6am shift (ideal for night workers).
- PPE Provided: CE-certified uniform, gloves, ear protection mandatory use.
